Frequently Asked Questions1. Why do I have to register? Do I have to pay for Registration? Registration is free. Only registered users have free access to the placement test and/or the Sample Class. 2. How do I register to create a new account?
First you need to click "login" and create a new account on the right. You will receive an email with a link. You have to click on the link to confirm and make sure you are logged in. A course category list appears. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on your name. You will find your profile page. Click on "Edit Profile". Under 'General' find the 'Description' text box and type in the following and fill in the requested information: 3. How do I take the free placement test and/or the free Sample Class? Click on the "Sample Class" on the Course Category list. You will now arrive at a page with a heading called "sub-categories'. At the lower left side click on "Sample Class". On the left side under Administration, click on "Enroll me in this course". You have now reached a page that has the following message: "You are about to enrol yourself as a member of this course. Are you sure you wish to do this?" Click "Yes". On the lower left side, find the placement test among the list titled "My Courses". Click on the 'placement test" and follow instructions. Under "My Courses" you may also click on the following in this order: Comprehension, Vocabulary I, Vocabulary II, and Essay. These four categories make up the Sample Class. Please note that for the "Sample Class" the essay will not be corrected since it is manually graded. 4. May I purchase a course without taking the placement test? Yes! You do not need to take the placement test especially if you are familiar with your level as set by the Cambridge English Readers (www.cambridge.org). 5. How do I know which books to purchase? Find the course you want to take on the drop-down menu under "Courses" at the top of the webpage. A list of books will appear with their ISBN numbers. Audio CDs are recommended as an addition to and not instead of the paperback/ebook version. 6. What do I do after purchasing a course? Under the course category you have purchased, you will find the names of the five books you need to read. After buying all five books click on a book title. On the left side, click on "Comprehension". Under "Activities" on the left side, click on "Resources". Click on the name of the book in the middle column and print out the vocabulary list from the "Word Bank". You need to study the words for the vocabulary quizzes. When you finish reading a book, do the 4 activities: Comprehension, Vocabulary I, Vocabulary II and Essay. You will get the results when you submit all the quizzes except for the Essay. You need to email the Essay in word format to customer.support@ellreading.com. Please include your name, course name, book title, and essay question. The graded essay will be emailed to you within a week. Follow the same procedure for all the books. 7. What is the duration of a course? Each of the courses is 4 months long and the student needs to read all 5 books and complete their activities. 8. What do I receive upon completion of the course? When you finish the course successfully, ELL Reading, LLC will email you a certificate of completion and recommendation for further study.
